DAISY: How many children do you have and what are their ages?
SARAH: I have one child who is one year old.
DAISY: What are your favorite hobbies and/or types of community service you serve in?
SARAH: I like spending time with my daughter and dogs, making crafts and do-it-yourself projects, working on my blog, cooking/baking, and drinking wine.
DAISY: Walk us through what your mornings look like getting everyone ready for the day:
SARAH: When it comes to buying for a retinol moisturizer, make sure that you take into consideration the manufacturer. Do not buy fake items as it can lead to serious skin problems. As a matter of fact, some of these problems may be incurable for a long period of time. As you buy for the said product, always look for the expiration date. Be careful in buying beauty products or skin items especially if you do it online. Keep in mind that you have to be vigilant all the time in order to ensure that you will not be a victim of scamming.
DAISY: Do you know how to use hair irons (ex: curling iron, flat iron and/or heat rollers)?
DAISY: How do you typically style your hair on a normal day?
SARAH: I always wash my hair at night, so the night after I wash it I will try to straighten it and wear it down. Usually I don't have time though, so I just wear it in a ponytail. Day two is a ponytail and day three is a ponytail or bun. I usually only wash my hair every 2-3 days.
DAISY: When was the last time you received a haircut from a salon professional?
SARAH: Less than 6-months ago.
DAISY: Do you know how to apply makeup?
DAISY: How do you typically apply makeup on a normal day?
SARAH: I have a pretty long commute to work in the morning, so I always do my makeup while driving (after I drop my daughter off at daycare). Typically my makeup consists of eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, cover up, and eyebrow penciling.
DAISY: How much time do you think you need each morning to get yourself ready?
SARAH: Usually about 20 minutes at home, and then about 15 minutes total of makeup time while driving.
DAISY: When was the last time you made time for yourself?
SARAH: Probably on Mother's Day – I took myself and my daughter out to breakfast.
DAISY: What do you feel needs improvement with your current style and look?
SARAH: My look could best be described as, “I got dressed in the dark.” I pretty much wear the same outfit every day, so I would love to learn how to dress more stylishly (or at least put together more than one outfit), in a inexpensive, time-effective way.
Read Sarah Simmons' Unique Story…
I’m a full-time single mom, with a full-time job, a full-time blog, and a grave-shift sleep schedule.
I was married for 5 years, had a baby, and then got divorced about 6 months later. Over the course of my marriage I had gotten into the habit of eating out constantly – usually every day for lunch at work, and probably 2-3 times a week for dinner. I wasn’t awarded any child support, so after my divorce I was pretty broke. I had to stop eating out all the time, and as a result, I lost about 80 pounds over 2 years. So now, I’m in a predicament where all my clothes are either too big, or are old and slightly too small. I still have a bit of weight to lose, but I have hit a plateau, so I really don’t want to buy new clothes. Therefore, I’m stuck wearing my usual outfit of jeans and a black top nearly every day.
I rarely have time for myself to go clothes shopping or even just look at a fashion magazine. Although fashion should probably be the last on my list of priorities, I would love a Total Mom Makeover so I could figure out some new ways to dress my figure, in a cost-effective way.
